Why We Charge $150 for a Design & In-Home Appointment
If you're thinking about remodeling your home, you may have noticed that NextGen Design & Build charges a $150 fee for our Design & In-Home Appointment .
And you may be wondering, “What exactly does that include?”
We completely understand. Remodeling is a big investment, and we believe it's important to be upfront about our process and why we charge for this appointment. The truth is, this appointment is more than just someone coming to your house to take a few measurements. It involves time with our team, planning, discussing your ideas, looking at materials, and getting a better understanding of your home and project before moving forward.
It Starts at Our Showroom in Indian Land, SC
The first part of the process takes place at our NextGen Design & Build showroom in Indian Land, SC . This is where we sit down and get to know you and your project. We'll talk about what you're looking to change in your home, what isn't working for you, and what you're hoping to accomplish with your remodel. You can bring pictures, inspiration, Pinterest ideas, or simply come in and tell us what you've been thinking about. Maybe you've been dreaming about a new kitchen but aren't sure where to start. Maybe your bathroom needs an update, or you're thinking about finishing your basement. During your appointment, we'll talk through your ideas and start looking at different options. You'll also can explore materials in our showroom. Depending on your project, that may include looking at cabinets, countertops, flooring, fixtures, tile, and other selections. We believe it's much easier to make decisions when you can actually see and touch the materials instead of trying to choose everything from pictures online.
Then We Come to Your Home
After your showroom design appointment, we schedule an in-home appointment. This is when our project manager and lead designer come to your home to look at the actual space and take measurements. Seeing the space in person is important. A picture, sketch, or conversation can only tell us so much. Once we're in your home, we can see the layout, take measurements, and look at things that could affect the project. For example, we may need to consider walls, plumbing, electrical, existing layouts, or other details that aren't always obvious during a showroom appointment. This helps us get a better understanding of what the project will actually involve.
You're Getting Time With Our Team
The $150 fee covers more than one quick meeting. Our team is spending time with you at the showroom, discussing your project and ideas, and then coming to your home to evaluate and measure the space. Depending on the project, both our project manager and lead designer may be involved in the process. There is also time spent behind the scenes reviewing everything that was discussed and gathered during the appointments. We want to take the time to understand your project instead of rushing through it and giving you a number based on guesses.
Every Home and Project Is Different
One of the biggest reasons we schedule an in-home appointment is because no two homes are exactly the same. Two kitchens may look similar in pictures but require completely different work once you look at the actual space. The same goes for bathrooms, basements, and other remodeling projects. Measurements, layouts, plumbing, electrical work, structural changes, and material selections can all affect the project. By coming to your home and seeing the space ourselves, we can better understand what you're looking for and what will be involved.
We Want to Give You a More Accurate Starting Point
We know one of the first questions homeowners have:
“How much is this going to cost?”
And we understand why. But it's hard to give an accurate price without understanding the project. A remodel can change significantly depending on the size of the space, the layout, the work involved, and the materials you choose.
That's why we take the time to meet with you first. The showroom appointment helps us understand your ideas and what you're looking for. The in-home appointment helps us understand your actual space. Together, those two steps give us a much better starting point than simply looking at a few pictures and throwing out a number.
We Take Every Appointment Seriously
At NextGen, we want to give each customer and project the attention it deserves.
That means taking the time to listen, answer questions, look at options, visit your home, and understand what you're trying to accomplish. The $150 Design & In-Home Appointment fee helps cover the time our team spends working with you during this process. We know there are companies that may offer free estimates, and we understand that homeowners have different options when choosing who to work with. Our goal is to provide more than a quick estimate. We want to take the time to get to know your project and help you start with a better understanding of what your remodel may involve.
Remodeling Is About More Than Picking Out Materials
Choosing beautiful cabinets, countertops, flooring, and fixtures is exciting, but there is a lot more that goes into a remodeling project. There is planning. There are measurements. There are decisions about layouts and materials. There are details that need to be considered before construction begins. Taking the time to plan from the beginning can help create a smoother process later. We want our customers to feel comfortable asking questions and exploring their options before making big decisions about their homes.
Our Goal Is to Help You Get Started the Right Way
We don't expect you to walk into our showroom knowing every detail of your project.
That's what we're here for. You may have a clear vision, or you may only know that something in your home isn't working for you anymore. Either way, we can start the conversation.
We'll sit down with you at our showroom in Indian Land, SC , talk about your ideas, and look at different materials and options. Then, we'll come to your home to take measurements and get a better understanding of the actual space. The $150 fee helps make that process possible and allows our team to dedicate the time needed to your project.
